More than 35 people braved the heat to attend TOC’s Conformation Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Santa Anita. Armed with chilled bottles of water, the participants headed out to the Santa Anita barn area, where they were treated to excellent hands-on presentations by trainers Matt Chew, Phil D’Amato, Ron Ellis and Howard Zucker.
“We felt welcome in the barn and I like that it didn’t feel rushed. Answered all questions in great detail. I learned a lot I didn’t know before!” (clinic attendee)
The trainers brought out horses to clearly illustrate horse anatomy — pointing out conformation flaws as well as correctness. Participants were also encouraged to ask questions during the program.
“I had a wonderful time, and this will enhance my days at the Breeders’ Cup.” (clinic attendee)
Attendees left with a packet of diagrams and information about horse conformation, free passes to the races compliments of Santa Anita, and a better overall understanding of what makes a “fast horse.” For information about upcoming TOC events, be sure to visit our Events page.
